Fundamentals of Drawing

This class is for everyone who wants to reinvigorate their drawing skills. We will work gradually and steadily from simple forms to more complex shapes and add colored pencils as you become more comfortable, and confident with the materials and processes. We explore classical and fundamentals of drawing, using photographs, found images, still life, and imagination. Contrast, composition, and experimentation are key. Bring a medium size (9 x 12" or larger) sketchbook, pencils, and a kneaded eraser. Other materials supplied.
Acrylic Painting I NEW
Wednesdays 6:30pm-9:00pm
$35 single session/$100 per month /Starts the first of every month
From beginners on, work at your own pace.This exciting non-toxic medium is a rich and interesting material for painting. Straight out of the tube, or using myriad mediums, acrylic allows you to paint quickly, and layer to create beautiful images. We will work from found objects and images, on a variety of surfaces. Small group classes encourage interaction as we cover techniques and applications of acrylic. Use and preparation of various surface materials, color mixing, composition, and texture are examined and supplemented with art history, contemporary art world discussion, and room to explore on your own. Painting I NEW
Wednesdays 9:30am-Noon
$35 single session/$100 per month /Starts the first of every month
Painting class covering foundational lessons in form, shape, color, composition using waterbased media of your choice (watercolor, gouache, acrylic, water-soluble oil). Great to (re)introduce the fine art of creating works on paper and canvas.
These are small, intimate classes, guaranteed to introduce and refine techniques and experiments to give you confidence and creative ideas. Supply list upon registration.
Fundamentals of Oil Painting
Thursdays 6:30pm-9:00pm

From beginners on, work at your own pace.This course provides a step-by-step introduction to the beauty and texture of oil painting, along with practical information about framing, stretching canvas, etc.
Explore the tools, skills, terminology and ideas through experimentation and projects. Use and preparation of various surface materials, color mixing, composition, and texture are examined and supplemented with art history, contemporary art world discussion, and room to explore on your own. Saturday Dec 13 9:30 am-1pm (note new times)

Discover your own creative voice creating collages from found objects, papers, photographs, personal items.
This Workshop will focus on creating a series of original (and economical) cards to give and trade. We'll be introducing techniques using found papers, stamps, colored pencils and personal items. You'll leave with 10 original pieces of one-of-a-kind art. Bring a friend and enjoy a creative and energetic day learning new skills in mixed media. Small, intimate workshop, register soon.
