Weekly Art Classes March-May 2012
Rejuvenate your art practice with a weekly art lesson. These small group classes are held at The Art Shop, 1825 W Division, a great storefront in the old Miller and Sons Lumber yard, Wicker Park.
All levels welcome, especially if you are needing a gentle push to lead you back into art making.

March-May SESSION
Painting Class: Objects + Form (Foundation Class)
Tuesday nights: .
Work with experienced art instructor Layne Jackson, www.laynejackson.com to develop your understanding of painting materials, and the techniques needed to express yourself in paint.
This is a great foundation level class if you haven't painted in a while, or EVER!
We will cover the painting skills, color mixing and theory, palette, brush and materials handling, and the concepts of light, composition, scale, and texture. Study form by painting from Still LIfe setups: these aren't your usual vase and flower set ups, so come with your imagination and the desire to create one painting each 1-2 class sessions. Push yourself to find your strengths in the alla prima painting technique of gently but firmly getting a likeness. This is a great class for all levels. Supply list available upon registration

Painting--Face and Figure Class
Wednesday nights:
Work with experienced art instructor Layne Jackson, BFA, to develop your understanding of the face and the hands, and the materials needed to express yourself in paint. Address the concepts of light, composition, scale, and color as you create paintings based on what you see, from photographic references to working with your own images and likeness.
We will focus on both the alla prima method (applying paint directly) and the old masters technique of creating an underpainting and glazing. Learn to paint what you see and trust your own creative interpretations. This is the most popular class!
Good for all levels.

WORKSHOPS
Painting + Art-making Saturday Workshop
These one day painting workshops will focus on one Set Up and we will complete a painting in the workshop. This involves painting alla prima and is geared towards all levels and students who may not be able to commit to weekly classes. If you'd like to come and enjoy working on your own project, these one day repeating workshops are for you! Sign up now to ensure a place. Most saturdays!
